Rehabilitation of Second Steel Deck Bridge at Obiafu Main Road (First and Second)

Scope of Work For both the First and Second Steel Deck Bridges, the rehabilitation scope included: * Detailed inspection and structural assessment of existing steel components and decking * Replacement of corroded steel plates and structural members * Reinforcement of bridge abutments and piers to restore load capacity * Welding, sandblasting, and repainting using protective coatings to prevent corrosion * Installation of new timber deck boards and anti-slip surfacing * Upgrading of safety rails and signage for improved vehicular and pedestrian safety * Drainage clearance and realignment to prevent water accumulation and structural damage

Description

Commissioned by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), the rehabilitation of the First and Second Steel Deck Bridges along Obiafu Main Road was carried out by O. K. Isokariari Nigeria Limited as a crucial infrastructure maintenance project. These steel deck bridges serve as essential transportation links for the Obiafu community and surrounding areas, supporting both residential and oil field-related activities. The rehabilitation works were undertaken to restore structural integrity, enhance safety, and extend the service life of the bridges, which are critical for community access and NAOC’s operational logistics.
